where to start?
i feel overwhelmingly blessed this thanksgiving. my what am i thankful list is long. as i type, the people i love very most in the world are here with me. (literally. milo's on the floor under my chair, ben's on his computer 3 ft. away) el & noah are hanging out on the couch and zack is making a thanksgiving day fritatta for breakfast. last night my wonderful parents watched my babies so zack and i could play paddle with our friends (SO much fun, by the way). today we are going to be with our family and enjoy aj & ub's thanksgiving day feast (no one puts on thanksgiving like aj & ub. they really have it down.) tomorrow grandma kim is coming over for all day christmas decorating.
i am a lucky girl. and i thank all of you for making my days so happy and full. i hope you know who you are. and i hope you know i really love you.

this morning. big brother helps little turkey w/ a math problem.
i want to live in this beautiful barn today:
and i want all the people i love to come over for a weekend sleepover. there's plenty of room.
tonight we will prep for tomorrow's feast. we will also go for long hikes with the dogs and gather firewood for the weekend. because we are going to be having some serious game marathons in front of the roaring fire, that's why. did i mention edward cullen is coming? because he is. (sorry jacob, i'm all the way team edward.)

so, a few people have asked about my being a vegetarian in a house full of carnivores.
do i make two different meals? (sometimes, not often)
am i sure i'm getting all the nutrients i need? (um, no. but i'm trying)
do i feel weird about preparing meat when i feel weird about eating it? (nope)

on monday we had steak and a few sides. i eat the sides...
surprisingly good november tomatoes + yummy cheese/pesto/olive oil/sea salt

add some broccolini (ella's fave), and you're all good
last night, we gathered here for mom's birthday celebration:

i can not get used to seeing pictures like this. because (even though i see him all the time) i don't expect him to look so grown up! i mean c'mon! he's my BABY!!!

i have holiday cards on the brain right now. i have been busy making client cards and just realized i had better get on the ball with my own kids' photos.
this is one of the images we used for a card 5 years ago. i still remember that morning. the mister had just walked in the door with a big brown bag from paneras. ella was so excited to get to that cinnamon toast crunch bagel - she could hardly hold still long enough for me to snap a few shots.
you know how some people can recall a vivid memory from a smell? or a song? well, photos do that for me. it's like a little movie plays in my head, complete with all the details. and that's why i love photos.
i won't even get started on why i love these three monkeys...
